Come Visit 72 Smalldive

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

72 Small Dive is anything but that…its not small, a dive or 72! The Milan-based design collective spearheaded by self-confessed design addict Soh Szetiong aims to create a collection that is fresh and design-driven. I confess I fell in love with the line when I first saw their juicy-coloured collection of clutch bags cum wristlets and then embarked on an exploration of the label. What we discovered epitomised organic simplicity itself – rings made of polished sea stones studded with semi-precious stones, pebble cuff links and delicate earrings. 72 smalldive is an inspiring and spare collection that celebrates the art of simple yet effective design.

Warm and Witty Coin Purses from Nat Thakur

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

London-based Nat Thakur has gained a lot of attention for her witty bags, pouches and clutches…some of her handcrafted totes look like plain brown paper bags, her clutches look like old-fashioned sweet bags and her coin pouches…well they defy categorisation…leather pigs and fish with gaping mouths.

Nat started her career in architectural leather work making bespoke furnishings and accessories for Ghost and Mulberry. Today, her pieces are exhibited in museums, sold at Takashimaya New York as well as throughout the UK. All her pieces are handcrafted by her and come with their own design number.

Twist and Shout with Arosha Twists

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Fully handmade and designed by Italian artist and designer Arosha Luigi Taglia from Italy (and now Israel), his modern futuristic plastic-with-a-twist avant grade cyber jewellery is what we love to see and stock at Q. Arosha re-invents a medium to create a new look that breaks from the tedium of what we normally see and associate with the term jewellery. He does so wonderfully well, making plastic look both fluid, modern and multi-textural. We are thrilled to welcome his line to Q.

Gogo on a Voyage or to School

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

Bad backs (I hear you) are a thing of the past when you adopt a Gogo lifestyle says Katharine Marinaro, owner and designer of the Gogo line of trolley bags on wheels who created this wonderful mobile solution to ease back and shoulder pain. Her idea of a light PVC trolley bag on sturdy wheels was born after witnessing her brood of three kids struggling with their hefty school bags. The line has evolved and apart from cool kiddie stuff like the bags and their matching lunch carriers she also created a more luxurious line for mums and dads to take to work and play.

A small testimony from me… I got one for my husband and it is one of his favourite holiday/cum working trip bags…strong, sturdy and volumnius, it can be carried on or checked in and comes with loads of pockets for all his extras…. style, practicality and functionality all-in-one.
