Visit Betseyville for Fun and Flashy Good Times

Saturday, December 27th, 2008

We discovered a new town in our travels…Betseyville a town in which Betsey Johnson creates the wildest totes, toiletry bags and makeup pouches we have seen in a long time. The plastic covered bags feature telephones, tattoos, lips, polka dots, bows and flying kisses on every single surface. We reckon you can not help but smile when you experience a Betseyville moment.

Click and smile all you cool chica chicks out there!

What Time is it Betsey Johnson?

Friday, December 26th, 2008

Fashions’ original and extremely limber wild child known for her celebration of the exuberant, the embellished and the over-the-top and for putting the word “fun” into fashion has just launched her first collection of one-of-a-kind fashion watches. The watches take on her favourite design elements: leopard prints, kisses, rose buds, polka dots and the colours pink and gold to create truly creative and fabulous timepieces presented in the most amazingly imaginative way – strapped around a fuchsia pillow and nestled in a leopard print-lined kitschy gold dresser.

“Like red lipstick on the mouth, my products wake up and brighten and bring the wearer to life…drawing attention to her beauty and specialness…her moods and movements…her dreams and fantasies” – Betsey Johnson.

Out of the Dark with Noir

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

It is 12 years old and husband and wife team Leeora Catalan and her husband Mash are going from strength-to-strength with their 70s line of super funkadelic jewellery called nOir nyc. First introduced to Q by Singapore-born Resham of London-based label Reshamm, we love the way Noir has redefined costume jewellery making it edgy and street-ish yet with a fresh and definitely humorous appeal…a flying pink pig ring, a spiky hedgehog…a huge white whale.

The line is so distinctive with its liberal sprinklings of coloured CZs, brightly-coloured enamel and its retro 70s vibe that the famous have taken note. Indeed, Marc Jacobs, Cynthia Rowley, Betsey Johnson, Petro Zillia, Nanette Lepore and Pat Field have all collaborated with Noir to create jewellery for their runway shows. Noir is worn by all the stylin’ stars from Madonna, to Britney and Beyonce, SJP, Paris, Iman, Eve and Gwen Stefani.

Bling it on!

Its All Baroque to Me, Elizabeth Cole

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Its finally, finally here after a wait of more than a year and it is well worth it…Stephanie Owen the designer/owner for Elizabeth Cole has just launched her latest collection of intricately designed costume jewellery to be worn alone or layered and looped with other pieces.

When we first saw her three years ago sharing a stand with other designers from her showroom… her obvious talent made her simple pieces outstanding…we conservatively bought her drapey asymmetrical semi-precious and her ingenious zipper pull necklaces…and sold out within a fortnight. She has now come into her own with a distinctive Elizabethan cum Romanesque and very Stephanie-ish, baroque multi-chain style that make her pieces jump up and grab you. We think she has evolved her own style signature making her pieces immensely collectible and wearable.

Diamonds and Kiki Pearl

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Nobody designs leather bags like Kiki Pearl whose unique style has made her one of the most sought young designers in the US today. As part of our quest to search for new and upcoming designers that we reckon are committed to making versatile and unique bespoke bags we brought in a specially edited collection that we feel showcases her talent of mixing different textures and colours of leather – pink against brown, embossed black croc against patent black, playing with textile finishes like frills and pleats…and the list goes on….
